The promotional event for EPIRUS FILM OFFICE and the 1st Epirus Film Festival was successfully organized
A promising three-day event took place in the Region of Epirus, in Ioannina, on 18-20 September 2020, with film productions, with interesting presentations by personalities of the film industry, and key statements, which were made on the occasion of the start of the journey to the online space of EPIRUS FILM OFFICE, the Office for the Promotion, Reception and Service of Film Productions (FILMOFFICE) in the Region of Epirus. It is part of the European Project CIAK, implemented by the company in cooperation with the Region of Epirus within the framework of the INTERREG Cross-border Cooperation Programme between Greece and Italy [Interreg V-A Greece – Italy] 2014-2020. At the same time, for the more effective dissemination of the creation of EPIRUS FILM OFFICE and the strengthening of its presence in film events, the launch of the 1st Epirus Film Festival was held !
The promotional event (Promotional Enent) held at the Cultural Centre of Ioannina, was welcomed by the Regional Governor, Mr Alexandros Kachrimanis. The coordinator of the event, Ms. Dimitra Rogoti on behalf of the Region of Epirus welcomed the attendees, presented the CIAK project, the EPIRUS FILM OFICE and its website that started its trial operation (epirusfilmoffice.eu). The director Mr. Antonis Kiukas analysed the importance of FILM OFICE for the development of the Region. This was followed by speeches and transfer of experiences of important personalities from the film industry such as Mrs. Venia Vergo, director of the Film Commission of the Greek Film Centre and Mr. Nikos Giannopoulos, producer with experience in international productions. The Vice-Regional Governor for Environment, Development and Trade, Mrs Stavroula Braimi, underlined the possibilities of future cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Policy, on the occasion of the address by the President of EKOME (National Centre for Audiovisual Media), Mr Panos Kouanis.
The opening of the Festival was declared by the director Mr Antonis Kioukas with the film “The Gulf of the Century”.The 1st EPIRUS FILM FESTIVAL on 19-20 September continued in an excellent “setting”, at the Museum of Silversmithery of the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation, Acropolis Itz Kale. During its duration, great films, productions shot in Greece were screened. The films were introduced by their main contributors such as the leading actress Ms. Katia Goulioni, “Happiness”, the Director of the Hellenic Film Commission of the Hellenic Film Centre Ms. Venia Vergo, “Journey to Greece” and Mr. Nikos Giannopoulos, executive producer in Greece of the great international co-production “The Endless Blue”. Also screened were films created within the framework of the CIAK project by the APULIA FILM COMMISSION.
Organizers and audience made an appointment for next year with more films and events and with the EPIRUS FILM OFFICE now in operation!
